"If you could make only ONE change in your diet to improve your health, what should it be?"
That's what I asked my beloved stepmom and one of my daughters, both holistic nutritionists that really know their stuff. Both have helped a lot of people. (Including me!)
My stepmom immediately said, "Bone broth!" My daughter totally agreed.
I've got the "Why" and the "How" of the Bone Broth right here for you, including the recipe and videos.
I didn't just take their word for it, but did my own research, as well. And tried it out for myself. Now I am passionate about sharing this simple food that can do so much for your health!
I've made this broth the BACKBONE of my kitchen!
What do I mean by that? I mean that I always have some Bone Broth in the frig/freezer to use on a frequent basis, as a base for quick soup meals or as the liquid to add to stir-frys and other dishes, and/or to drink. The most important staple in my kitchen!
Why? Because using Bone Broth on a frequent basis, provides continuous protection from many health problems and is healing! See "Got Issues" for more info on why a healthy gut is super important to a healthy body.
This has certainly been true for our family and for many of our friends. BONE BROTH KEEPS US HEALTHIER!!!
I don't worry about my family getting the flu, not even the serious kinds. Not even the so-called Swine Flu!!! Because this Bone Broth is such a serious immune system booster!
And what, exactly, is Bone Broth? Bone Broth that has simmered awhile.
And why simmer for more than a few minutes???
Because when you do, it makes all those minerals in the bonescolloidal!
Bone Broths are extremely nutritious, 'cuz they turn the minerals of bones, cartilage, marrow and vegetables into electrolytes (in a form that your gut LOVES and will use readily).
The gelatin from the simmered bones has protein and is a POWERFUL aid to digestion! AND the gelatin helps your body to make much better use of other proteins you eat with it. And lots of other helpful stuff!
Modern research has confirmed that the old "Jewish penicillin", chicken broth, "helps prevent and mitigates infectious diseases" :)
Ok. But we're all busy, right?
This can work for busy people!!!
I have found a way: A simple recipe + making a large batch = not needing to make it so often!
I toss meat bones into filtered water in a HUGE stainless steel stockpot, cover and bring to a boil, then simmer at the very lowest setting. I never even stir. I let it simmer. Just imagine how great the house smells that whole time...ahh...
Then I pour the Bone Broth through a strainer and store in qt size or 2 qt size jars and cool in the fridge. I set those I don't need within about 5 days into the freezer. Not completely full, of course, so they don't shatter.
Another GREAT option is to simmer long enough to condense the broth, then pour into ice cube trays til frozen, then dump and store in the freezer.
Talk about true FAST food!
I can grab a quart or two of the Bone Broth, dump it into a saucepan and make up meal in just a few minutes, by adding noodles, or rice or whatever. I make up many different types, Thai, Mexican, Indian, etc. So good for my family.
Whenever any recipe calls for liquid, such as for cooking rice or beans, or in a stir-fry, I can usually use the Bone Broth. And I feel GREAT about adding good nutrition this way.
When any of us start sniffling or coughing, we get a mug of Bone Broth with some fresh ginger in it.
When we're together with all my grown kids at the cabin, it means there's gonna be non-stop late night conversations and scratchy throats. So I always start our time together by making up a huge pot of chicken broth. And everyone can drink some several times a day to ward off the sore throats, etc.
SO yummy to add coconut milk, ginger, and some lime...mmm...
I invite you to improve YOUR family's health by making
Bone Broth the Backbone of YOURkitchen!!!
"Why is chicken soup superior to all the things we have, even more relaxing than Tylenol? Because chicken soup has a natural ingredient which feeds, repairs and calms the mucous lining in the small intestine...Chicken soup...heals the nerves, improves digestion, reduces allergies, relaxes and gives strength.
